My New Obsession...

One word......Twilight.

My new drug. People, its amazing. So amazing that you will fall in love with a fictional character. SO amazing that you will not put it down until you read at least a hundred pages in one sitting. And finally, its so amazing that I am going to see the midnight showing tomorrow with a horrible stomach ache and i wouldn't miss it for the world.

The novel keeps you interested enough through the first chapter or two. Interested, in other words, enough to keep you reading. Than at the slightest mention of Edward Cullen, the "god-like" vampire who quickly becomes all you care about it life eats away at your very mind. In all seriousness, the first time i read about Edward i didn't stop reading until they (Bella the main character and Edward) spoke. Than i was SO curious about him that i continued to read. And read. And read. With school work getting in the way, i managed to read the nearly-450-page book in a little over 2 days.

So, what I'd like to say is that.... well.... everyone has seen those crazy twilight fans on tv. TRUST me, if you read it (and your a female... sorry men its directed more towards us lady folk), you will become one of those crazy fans. You too will scream the name of the lead vampire with all the others. And I would like to say that i have NO problem with that. Its an amazing book that you dont really appreciate until you pick it up and get pulled in. I give it 10 stars (out of 5) and I advise everyone to read it fast so you can see the movie with us "Twilight zoners". Come see the move, which comes out on the 21st, or this friday. I will be there, I can assure you that.
Goodbye fellow twilight zoners and all you who will soon be corrupted!

bwahaha!

Today

I come to you today prided with a great win our nation has just received. For today, exactly what we needed walked into his office in Washington DC. Today, (as of yesterday) we made history. Today, as a people, we single handedly worked as one to do something incredible. Now, Barrack Obama is our president.

I can not write long but i want to thank America and it's people for pulling through and voting, and I want to tell you all how excited i am to be able to call Barrack the President of our Nation. He told us "yes we can", and he was right.

We could.

Yay!!!

Good weather! It's finally becoming more like fall as the summer winds down. Yes, perhaps i'm a little anxious for cooler weather and its still only august, but its not only because fall's my favorite season but my birthday is arriving soon enough. Hopefully I can go out today and ripstick  a little or maybe just listen to music or read on the grass. Here is my video of the day:
                      Harry Potter Puppet Pals!
                *not your average puppet show*

Hope you enjoy it. My other favorties are wizard angst, wizard swears, and the mysterious ticking noise.

                                                 Check em out!

Step Up 3!.....D!

Thats right, this may be old news to some of you but there will be a Step Up 3. Except, it's gets better my fan friends. Much better. This is the first dance movie ever to be in 3D! I'm not sure how this will turn out, but knowing the previous Step Ups, it should be great.

Oh yea! And for those of you who also didn't know, Joshua from So You Think You Can Dance will also be given a featured role in this upcoming movie. And as far as actors and actresses, Jon Chu and Adam Sevani (mentioned in my last post for creating the ACDC) have hinted that Moose (adam's character) will be in the third movie since everyone loved him in the second one. Thats just hinted.. but knowing them theres a darn good chance because they are best friends and adam was such a hit (gee i should know because now i'm a huge dorky fan of his).

I'll keep you posted on step up 3-D probably coming to theaters next year,

ACDC! Not just a band..

but a dance crew. ACDC stands for the adam-chu dance crew. Jon M. Chu is the director of Step Up 2 and Adam Sevani ( whom i love so very much) is his close friend that plays the not-so-far-out-of-character nerd in the movie who can actually dance. Jon, the leader of the crew, has made a youtube page with their videos. The members, ranging from people who saw the videos and sent in their own to be recruited, pros like adam and madd chad (robotic genius of dance), and celebrities like adam sandler, lindsay lohan, jabbawokkies, and many more make up this crew. From breakdancing to popping, spinning and more, they are one of, or perhaps the favorite real life crew of my choice.
A few months ago, Jon saw the miley and mandy show. For those of you who don't know i'm talking about the horribly annoying Miley Cyrus and her friend Mandy. Jon saw a video and challenged them to the biggest only dance battle in history. There has been video posting wars going on for 2 to 3 months. Than, even though M&M crew was just using other dancers to do their work for them and making it flashy with more celebrities, they decided to bring it live.... to the teen choice awards. They battled, and the audience voted but because Miley was the host of the program, her crew won. Now i most point out her and mandy didn't do any real dancing! Only the rest of their "crew" did. But anyway, despite the lose, I needed to bring this dance crew to your attention.

Alright, here is some of what ACDC can do. Follow the videos and you'll love jon, adam and the rest just as i do. : )

Now, if you liked that, head to Jon Chu's youtube page (or give me a clicky) and watch more ACDC dance videos.

are YOU down with the ACDC?

The Apple Transition

Saturday was one of the few days i have the rather cultural experience of riding New York City Transit... the subway. And as i rode to my destination i noticed what apple has done and the affects of the company on our lives. If you take a gander around, its not hard to see that nearly everyone in your train car is listening to music for a morning pick-me up. And nearly everyone jamming out is doing so with an iPod.
And not just on the trains my friend. You'll see this everywhere. The most popular mp3 device out there is on the hips and in the hands of everyone on the street. Apple still dominates the big NYC with its standard in technology for listening to music. But slowly, we are seeing this brilliant company grow to greater accomplishments.
Apple, although was most widely known for the iPod, is now growing more popular among computers. I, like many others who have been converted, love my mac to death. Its what i'm typing to you all now on. But not only are people breaking out of their tight PC shells, they are allowing Apple to run their phones. This is great if you ask me. I mean, all mac products are reliable, so why not use mac for all of your things? You know your already covered, so its actually most sensible.
Still, a percent of the people out there today are still a bit scared to break free of the PC. After all, thats all they have used. But once you go mac, you never go back.

Robo Trippin'

Is it a dance? Is it a genre of techno? No and no. It is on the news though.

So apparently it seems that some teenagers are so desperate to get high now that they are using cough medicine from their houses and over dosing on it. They call it "robo" from robitussin (cough medicine). And trippin is self explanatory. Now, this has
been going on for a while now. Lots of people knew about it. Now, out of no where,
the news decides to pick this up as though this is a new fad, and they haven't even told
us anything most people don't already know, except its official name.
Now the saddest part to me is (for starters) some teenagers are so desperate
to either get high, get attention, and or fit in that they are turning to their medicine
cabinets and over dosing on something as simple as cough syrup. Now the second
saddest thing is that other people are seeing these videos and actually following! You'd
think they would see the flaw for intelligence in the concept and not try it. But instead
they see the humor, and the popularity. And they know that people will say "wow, you
actually did that!?!" and they know it will win them what they want the most. Attention.
They won't recognize that thats what they really want at first, but they'll see it
eventually. It is just simply unwise and ridiculous. Anther poor aspect of this is the
amount of people following and how easy it is to both get high on normal medicine
for them and watch videos of it. If you went to youtube right now and type in "robo
trippin" you'll find dozens of videos capturing the chronicle of these kids doing this.
Sad, but true. Well thats my interesting story of the day.
uhh, crack is whack!

A Game Show with a Twist

I just saw one of the weirdest game shows i've ever come across.

The show is called "Wanna Bet?" (as shown in HUGE letters above lol) hosted by two british men. They have 4 celebrities sit down on this couch. Than they have guests come on the show and say they can do crazy stuff. Before they try to prove what they say they can do, the celebrities bet on whether they will succeed or fail and wager money. If your right, it works like Jeopardy. You win what you wagered. If your wrong, its deducted. In the end, the celebrity with the most money wins.
So now that you know the rules, you should know how crazy some of this stuff is. The oddest for me tonight was a man who claimed he could tell what artist and album a CD was if he sniff/licked it. Two celebrities said he'd succeed. Two said fail. He was blind folded and randomly given 5 CDS to lick. The hosts showed us the CD before he did his job. He got 4 out of 5 correct, which was the requirement.
My question is not so much as  how he does does this, but how he DISCOVERED he could do this! Was he in his apartment one day like "hmm...i bet i know that iron maiden CD so well that if i licked it i'd know it."? Better yet, this guy has been doing this for ten years! 10!
I recommend someone to see this show once. Just to see how ridiculous/amusing it is.

still wondering how you discover such talent,

Batman The Dark Knight

There were many reasons why i give this movie 4 and a half stars. The actors/actresses did phenomenal jobs, the plot was interesting and kept you thinking, and the special effects were bananas. What more do you need? Here i'll give props to the actors.

Christian Bale: The acclaimed hottie held his own in this movie with his  cool gadgets and swagger that made you want to meet him. His deep voice and towering appearance made you believe in the whole thing.

Maggie Gyllenhaal: Maggie Gyllenhaal did a good job of being the damsel in distress here, being torn between 2 men. She was also MUCH less annoying than Katie Holmes who i felt no sympathy for in the last Batman. So 5 stars to her!

Heath Ledger: First off, rest in peace. I assure all of you that Heath captured the sheer essence of the Joker fantastically. He was edgy and violent and made you believe he could so easily be pushed over the edge, while he was really a criminal genius with extremely dark humor, which made the movie go-ers laugh at many parts. Although his loss in the world has led to sorry in his family and fans, and a possible loss of what could have been great future rolls in movies, at least he left us a a brilliant, chilling performance that we will all remember.

Now, for the only bad parts.

1. Sometimes the plot was so in-depth  that it was a little hard to follow.
2. It was also a bit hard to follow because in parts Bruce or Gordon would speak while heroic music would be playing and you wouldn't be able to hear them because they'd be speaking in a very low or deep  voice. So it would kinda ruin the moment.
3. Although it was very entertaining and never slow from the start, it was a tad bit long.

thats my review, go see it!

Wall-E for Real?

Who is this handsome fellow spotted on the streets of L.A? Could it be.... Waaaaaaall-E?

Believe it or not, this adorable thing isn't the real one, composed of CGI. BUT! He is just as fun to watch and wish for! Too bad he isn't for sale, he'd be worth a million. : )

My Review On: Wallllllllllllll-e!

Say hello to the my one of my definite top 5 movies of the year.
So, here are the highlights of this movie. Well, everything. But in all seriousness there was not a detail i didn't like. The animation was phenomenal, the plot was shockingly serious, and wall-e and his friend eve (pronounced in the movie as eeeeee-va) were extremely lovable and made you say or at least think "thats the most adorable thing i've ever seen". I honestly can't describe all the high points, because the the movie itself was an all time high. You must, must, MUST see Wall-e and than you'll most certainly understand the love for this movie nation wide. I give it 10 stars. : D
                                                            i LOVE Walllllllllllll-e,

umm..

Not most to  post on today my fellow bloggers. Me and Sasha (my ripstick if you aren't a steady reader) went out this morning and tried the hang ten again. i can get my back foot to the middle of the board but i just can't get it over to the front panel. Well, correctly at least.
Though one trick anyone can do, though is a load of fun is riding the ripstick sitting. I mentioned this before. All you do is place your rear end a little before the tail of the board and your two feet on the nose over the black foot grips. and push of with your hands. Its a blast trying to steer.
*CAUTION: May not be safe to attempt this on a busy street *

For more advanced tricks, watch here and be amazed.

                                                   Enjoy!

Ripsticking (the next level)

So lately i've been yearning to learn tricks on Sasha, now that i know how to ride her. I am currently trying to learn how to "Hang Ten" on sasha, in other words ride with both feet on the nose of the board. You are supposed to gradually move your foot upwards on the board until they are together. As simple as this boy makes it seem, it takes more effort than is shown.

As far as trying to hang ten, the only other trick i know so far is riding sasha sitting down.
                                                                Always keeping you posted,

I'm freeeee! As free as the wind blows...

Or at least as free as helium would allow.

This was one 48 year old man's thoughts as he soared high above the clouds in a lawn chair rigged with 150 helium balloons. Thats right. Balloons.

Kissing his wife and chihuahua goodbye, Kent Couch lifted his 600 pound contraption off the ground of his gas station's parking lot and soared into the sky on a clear sunny day. He carried a bb gun to periodically shoot balloons down so he wouldn't raise too high, a parachute for safe landing, and coffee for his own well-being.

Starting in Bend Oregon, he flew about 230 east at about 20 miles per hour all the way to McCall Idaho over the course of a day. He says, "If had the time and money and people, I'd do this every weekend". His successful run  will most likely go down in history alone with a previous try at the stunt in Los Angeles, and be admired by many of the residents of his home state, and all over the country.
All i can say is you ROCK Kent!

The Ripstick

The ripstick is not your average skate board. It revamps the normal sport wear we are used too. You see, it only has two wheels. As horrifying as that may sound, it is the most addicting thing ever once you learn to balance. If you have one and want to learn, read the following.
Do you see how one end of the board comes to a flat side and the other is more rounded? Well if you the are a skater or surfer it won't be a surprise to learn that the "nose" of the board is the more rounded point and the more flat end is the "tail". So in the following steps you'll learn how to ripstick.

1st: Put your foot on the nose of the board. The logo "ripstick" should be facing you so you can read it. For some people it is easier to ride the board when these words are upside down. Push the board upright on its 2 wheels.
2nd: With your second foot, push the board a short distance once or twice, put the second foot on the tail end.
3rd: now we're cookin! after your on move your hips and thighs in a kind of lower body shimmy. this movement takes the longest to acquire.
And than your done! This sounds awfully simple, but it took me 4 days to a week to fully learn to ride my ripstick (whom i've named sasha). With the pictures i've posted and the video i found, i hope it helps you to become a pro.
                                                     ---BuTtOnS*****
p.s-for cool tricks to learn after you've mastered riding, go to youtube. thats an afternoon of amazement awaiting you. :)

My Review for Rock Band (for the wii) and Guitar Hero: On Tour for the DS

First, Rock Band (wii). I must say that i was slightly disappointed by the game in general. The graphics were fuzzy and not as clear as the Guitar Hero series. While the drums and the microphone were the games highest points, there were few good songs in the 60 or so collection. I personally felt that the guitar the game came with was also somewhat fluky and made me feel like i wasn't hitting the notes because when you strummed it, it wouldn't click. I give the game 3 stars.

Lastly, Guitar Hero on Tour for the DS proved to be opposite. It's graphics were remarkable for such a scale down in the size of the screen. The song selections were both newer lovable songs that almost everyone knows, classic guitar hero songs such as "black magic woman", and less known songs that were wonderful to play. The seemly awkward set up proves to deliver. While strumming away with a life like pick to fun songs, this game deserves 4-5 stars.
                                                                      play happy!

Aww! I Love Your Pet-Bear?

The story goes that a tribal man in India named Ramesh Munda found a bear cub while collecting firewood in a near by forest. The young cub was abandoned from it's mother and alone. The man took the cub into his family of two; Himself and his daughter. His wife had passed away and Mr. Munda's daughter was still grieving. With this new edition to the family, his daughter began to cheer up. They fed and cared for the cub, until Wildlife Protection officers reported that Munda was breaking the wildlife protection act. Rani the bear was sent to Nandankanan Zoological park.                 There Rani refused to eat. At home Munda and his daughter became depressed once more and desperate for Rani. In the end, after many complications, the family were able to visit their loved furry friend again at their wish.
Whether or not the bear should be kept in captivity is still under protest,

A Ban On Porch Couches?

Thats right. A tiny town in P.A is trying to ban sofas on outdoor porches. Why you ask? Just as i was surprised, they say that 8 recent fires in the town were due to "porch couch fires". The final decision on the matter well be discussed at a town meeting. Don't believe it?

Caution: Viewer Discretion Is Advised

This video is absolutely horrifying. I personally believe that these soldiers most certainly don't get any slack for doing this to something so defenseless especially when they can take out their frustration in other ways like in their fighting. There was absolutely no need or right in my mind for them to  do this, especially on camera.
That is my personal opinion on the matter. But some people might disagree. The main focus of this video's lesson if that Bush needs to bring the soldiers home. They are literally going  mad over there. This is a wake up call if we ever saw one. Go on youtube and search videos. There are dozens like this. Children begging for water and soldiers teasing them and telling them to say mean things. Horrible horrible videos. We need to bring them home, and fast.

Got an old Computer?

So today in my boredom i browsed through a website for purely good news instead of all the garbage you normally see on TV, and i found an article on how a oddly simple technique for recycling the potentially toxic waste from old computers that have lived a full life can make that very toxic waste into environment friendly material to produce plastic, fuel and other things we use day by day. I clicked to read more after that, but the rest was deleted from the site where it was originally on. : (

what a great way to make fuel though!

A few days ago i heard a story of an undiscovered war hero. Now this story might be a week or two old for some of you readers, but i thought it should be shared.
So the story goes that a class was assigned to finding a hero that has gotten no publicity or in other words was completely under the radar. One student found a a very special old women. Her name was Irena Sendler. During the Holocaust, she lived in a town where a large camp of Jewish people were kept. She, however, wasn't a Nazis and felt horrible for the children of the camp. So she convinced the Nazis to let her in and "control disease" with her medical talent. Once she was in, she smuggled children out of the as soon as possible by giving them a sleeping drug and  out them in baskets and than in an ambulance and out of the camps. People of her town also helped and took in these children. Irena buried all of the children's medical and birth forms in fire proof boxes in her yard, labeled with their names. She kept this up until one day a baby cried in the ambulance due to not being fully drugged and she was captured. She didn't give into torture.  She did get out and after the war she dug up all the safety boxes and tracked down the children again. Some got reunited with family and others had the comfort of knowing their real names and who their parents were.
In total, Irena was said to have saved the lives of of nearly 2,500 babies. When she was spoken too, she did however express regret-for doing too little.

                                                 now this is an angel,

Why Is It?

Lately i feel as though everyone has been so caught up in TMZ, People magazine and younger Spears' new baby that we push out the important things. As though no ones noticed, floods that have been raging in the midwest have pretty much ruined our whole growing season. The massive earthquakes in China which is a cause of major disease spreading in the region that was hit seemed to have came and gone as quick as a flash as well. And although its getting more attention than it was, the huge climate change still isn't being tackled quite as fully as we all could be. (And on that subject, dare i venture that even our changes to be more environmentally efficient are more because we have to and we're melting away rather than we are very concerned and choose too. Don't get me wrong here folks, i give credit to the many people that really are concerned, because they are indeed out there.) True... this entry was mostly to vent my confusion on how we can care so much about "brangelina's" new baby pictures than other matters of the world that seem to slip away with a brief news headline or 2. Now don't get me wrong, its perfectly fine to indulge in Extra every now and again, but shouldn't we put down the People mag and pick up the Times every once in a while?

                                  Just a thought,

Alrighty...so first i thought i'd post on a very important topic to me. That topic is global warming. I was encouraged to post on it today when i saw the mind boggling statistic that 400,000 square miles of the Arctic sea has melted in the last 30 years and continues to pick up speed. That is roughly the size of Texas. This also means that our good old friends the polar bears are dying out due to lose of their natural habitat.
Now if the thought of losing our furry friends isn't bad enough, than feel free to look at other Global Warming Statistics and than help by doing your part.

               always keeping you posted,
